(15) And Jehovah revealed in Samuel's ear one day before Saul came, saying, (16) At this time tomorrow I will send to you a man out of the land of Benjamin. And you shall anoint him for the leader over My people Israel. And he shall save My people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen My people, for his cry has come to Me. (17) When Samuel saw Saul, then Jehovah answered him, Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall exercise restraint over My people.

15 As for Jehovah, he had uncovered the ear of Samuel the day before Saul came, saying: 16 "Tomorrow about this time I shall send to you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you must anoint him as leader over my people Israel; and he must save my people from the hand of the Philistines, because I have seen [the affliction of] my people, for their outcry has come to me." 17 And Samuel himself saw Saul, and Jehovah, for his part, answered him: "Here is the man of whom I said to you, 'This is the one that will keep my people within bounds.'"

(17) And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, This is the man of whom I gave you word! he it is who is to have authority over my people.
