Colossians 1:1-8 CEV ...From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, who is also a follower. (2) To God's people who live in Colossae and are faithful followers of Christ. I pray that God our Father will be kind to you and will bless you with peace! (3) Each time we pray for you, we thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (4) We have heard of your faith in Christ and of your love for all of God's people, (5) because what you hope for is kept safe for you in heaven. (Luke 10:20 of 20-22; Mat 25:34) You first heard about this hope when you believed the true message, which is the good news. (6) The good news is spreading all over the world with great success. It has spread in that same way among you, ever since the first day you learned the truth about God's wonderful kindness (7) from our good friend Epaphras. He works together with us for Christ and is a faithful worker for you. (8) He is also the one who told us about the love that God's Spirit has given you.

Colossians 1:1-8 GNB ...From Paul, who by God's will is an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy--- (2) To God's people in Colossae, who are our faithful friends in union with Christ: May God our Father give you grace and peace. (3) We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. (4) For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all God's people. (5) When the true message, the Good News, first came to you, you heard about the hope it offers. So your faith and love are based on what you hope for, which is kept safe for you in heaven. (Luke 10:20 of 20-22; Mat 25:34) (6) The gospel keeps bringing blessings and is spreading throughout the world, just as it has among you ever since the day you first heard about the grace of God and came to know it as it really is. (7) You learned of God's grace from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is Christ's faithful worker on our behalf. (8) He has told us of the love that the Spirit has given you.

Colossians 1:1-8 GW ...From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will, and from our brother Timothy. (2) To God's holy and faithful people, our brothers and sisters who are united with Christ in the city of Colossae. Good will and peace from God our Father are yours! (3) We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in our prayers for you. (4) We thank God because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God's people. (5) You have these because of the hope which is kept safe for you in heaven. (Luke 10:20 of 20-22; Mat 25:34) Some time ago you heard about this hope in the Good News which is the message of truth. (6) This Good News is present with you now. It is producing results and spreading all over the world as it did among you from the first day you heard it. At that time you came to know what God's kindness truly means. (7) You learned about this Good News from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant. He is taking your place here as a trustworthy deacon for Christ (8) and has told us about the love that the Spirit has given you.

Colossians 1:1-8 ALT ...Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by [the] will of God, and Timothy the brother, (2) To the holy ones [or, saints, and throughout epistle] and faithful brothers [and sisters] in Christ in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and [the] Lord Jesus Christ! (3) We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, always praying for you, (4) having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love [which you have] towards all the holy ones, (5) because of the hope [or, confident expectation], the one laid up for you in the heavens, (Luke 10:20 of 20-22; Mat 25:34) which you heard of before in the word of the truth of the Gospel, (6) coming to you, just as also in all the world, and is bearing fruit {and growing}, just as [it is] also in you, from [the] day which you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; (7) just as you also learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow-slave, who is a faithful [or, trustworthy] servant of Christ on your behalf, (8) the one having also declared [or, made clear] to us your love in the Spirit.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
