James 1:5-8 NWT
5 So, if any one of you is lacking in wisdom, let him keep on asking God, for he gives generously to all and without reproaching; and it will be given him. 6 But let him keep on asking in faith, not doubting at all, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and blown about. 7 In fact, let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from Jehovah (יהוה); 8 he is an indecisive man, unsteady in all his ways.
James 1:5-8 CEV
(5) If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking.
(6) But when you ask for something, you must have faith and not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm.
(7) If you are that kind of person, you can't make up your mind, and you surely can't be trusted. So don't expect the Lord (יהוה) to give you anything at all.
(8) (SEE 1:7)
James 1:5-8 ALT
(5) Now if any of you* lacks wisdom, let him be asking from God, the One giving generously to all and not denouncing [or, without criticizing], and it will be given to him.
(6) But let him be asking in faith, doubting nothing. For the one doubting has been likened to a wave of the sea, being driven by wind and tossed about.
(7) For let not that person be supposing that he will receive anything from the Lord (יהוה).
(8) [That one is] a double-minded [or, indecisive] man, unstable in all his ways.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
The Translations we quote are:
ALT - Analytical Literal Translation
ASV - American Standard Version (by the American revision committee in 1897).

BBE - 1965 Bible in Basic English
LITV - Literal Translation of the Holy Bible
KJV - King James Version
MKJV - Modern King James Version
NWT - New World Translation
