John 9:22 CEV
(22) The man's parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. The leaders had already agreed that no one was to have anything to do with anyone who said Jesus was the Messiah.

John 9:22 BBE
(22) They said this because of their fear of the Jews: for the Jews had come to an agreement that if any man said that Jesus was the Christ he would be put out of the Synagogue.

John 9:22 ALT
(22) These things his parents said because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed together that if anyone shall confess Him [as the] Christ, he should be expelled from the synagogue.
