Mark 13:8 NWT
. . .For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, there will be earthquakes in one place after another, there will be food shortages. These are a beginning of pangs of distress.
(Mark 13:19-20)
. . .for those days will be [days of] a tribulation such as has not occurred from [the] beginning of the creation which God created until that time, and will not occur again. 20 In fact, unless Jehovah had cut short the days, no flesh would be saved. But on account of the chosen ones whom he has chosen he has cut short the days.

(8) "For nation will be raised up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in [various] places, and there will be famines and disturbances [fig., uprisings]. These [are the] beginnings of birth pains [fig., great sufferings].

(19) "For [in] those days [there] will be tribulation [or, affliction], such as [there] has not been like from [the] beginning of [the] creation which God created, until now, and never at all shall be. (20) "And if [the] Lord did not cut the days short, no flesh would be saved; _but_ because of the chosen [or, the elect], whom He Himself chose, He cut the days short.
