You should learn what the Bible teaches. It is a wonderful book of hope and enlightenment.
Have you personally been misled, however, to believe the Bible teaches you are subject to Law? Are you part of a sect that has standards of belief and membership? YOU should perceive there is great danger in allowing yourself to be put under law! Be forewarned: There are
individuals [and groups] who desire to enslave you under their doctrine ("their" law); and then to convince you it is the Bible's teaching. The Laws of men are wearisome to the flesh. (
Ecclesiastes 12:12 ;
Matthew 23:1-12) Many strive to bury the simple and beautiful truth of the Bible under their sectarian laws, and rules, and traditions. (
Mark 7:3-8 ;
Colossians 2:8) [We do not here speak of secular laws by governments, which are intended to protect mankind. (see footnote*)] The laws which we warn about, the laws which cause great harm, are those concocted by religious individuals and groups: Dreamt up by persons who wish to use law to assert themselves as lords among men, and then, to pronounce judgment over the faith of others. Such self exalted individuals wish to imagine their laws are the same as God's laws. Whether they really believe that, they certainly want to convince YOU their laws come from God. Many will demand that you not question anything they say!
[Some religions will actually kill those who disagree with them. Most just assert judgment nonmembers are lost to God. Nothing is more hateful than judging someone an enemy of God...] As divided and divisive as such groups are, they all share this in common: They all want you to fear their judgment over you. Each sect will threaten some judgment against you in effort to make you obedient to their wishes. If you do not cower before them, they will assert you have no fear of God so as to obey him. Who do they really imagine they are? In some cases, such religious persons are obviously wicked. [They abuse little children in secret, or proudly kill indiscriminately in the name of their God and cause.] Others may seem, or may even be, sincere and well meaning. What all such lawgivers teach however, comes from their own understanding and/or even from their own writings. (
1 Cor 4:6 ;
Mat 7:21-23) Whether such persons are obviously wicked, or are sincerely deceived; the message they convey [and which they assert comes from the Bible] is always the same: It always amounts to rules and laws. "You will get life if you do this," they say [or "if you don't do that"]. By allowing themselves to focus on trying to adhere to law, they are missing the Bible's purpose. (
